My Review
I have to say, it was love at first try with this product! It is absolutely brilliant. I have a feeling that this will soon become a cult product!
I popped it straight on my lips as soon as I opened it, and the texture is glorious. Rich and sturdy enough to rescue troubled skin, but light enough to slip and slide over the skin effortlessly. The first thing I thought was – this is the perfect skincare all-rounder to take on a flight!
Considering that pharmaceutical-grade petrolatum (basically Vaseline) is a primary ingredient, it isn’t greasy or overly heavy and it is certified as non-comedogenic. So even if you have spot-prone skin, you will still be able to use this.
I suffer with a bit of eczema/psoriasis on my hairline (when I get stressed or under the weather) and this will be absolutely ideal for that, as well as being the perfect lip salve and gloss.
What makes the CeraVe Advanced Repair Ointment even more special is that it is the perfect product to slather over your whole body when you get out of the shower to infuse winter skin with hydration and moisture, and then lock it in.
If you have very dry skin, or need an some serious skin rescue, the tiniest blob works amazingly well as an intense night cream applied over serums to lock everything in whilst giving your skin a moisture boost of it’s own and creating a protective barrier. The combination of ceramides and Hyaluronic Acid will work to improve the skin’s smoothness and elasticity.
This is going to go everywhere with me and most definitely on flights. Also, it’s a serious contender to be added into to my Best Moisturiser for 2024 post. Watch this space.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I put CeraVe Advanced Repair Ointment all over my face?
Yes, the ointment can be used as a moisturiser, as it is lanolin free and non-comedogenic. It may be too rich for oily skin but a thin layer can be applied to the face and body to seal in moisture after cleansing and serums.
Is CeraVe Advanced Repair Ointment the same as Vaseline?
No the CeraVe ointment is different from Vaseline. Vaseline is JUST pretroleum jelly, whereas the CeraVe Advanced Repair Ointment combines pharmaceutical-grade Petrolatum with 3 essential ceramides and Hyaluronic Acid. So this is more of a skincare product than purely an occlusive.
Can I use CeraVe Advanced Repair Ointment instead of moisturiser?
Yes, a thin layer can be used after cleansing and serums to seal in moisture. This will be more suited to those with very dry skin, or a compromised skin barrier.
I personally wouldn’t use it as a daily moisturiser but it will be ideal for long haul flights to boost hydration and reduce water loss, or after intensive skin treatments to repair.
What skin type is CeraVe Advanced Repair Ointment best for?
This is best suited to dry skin, although it is suitable for all skin types and makes the most excellent lip balm.
Is CeraVe Healing Ointment the same as CeraVe Advanced Repair Ointment
Yes. I believe that CeraVe Advanced Repair Ointment was first called CeraVe Healing Ointment when it launched in the US.
Where to buy CeraVe Advanced Repair Ointment
This super affordable skin multi-tasker is £11 for 50ml and £14 for 88ml.
