My Review
The texture of the ILIA The Cleanse Soft Foaming Cleanser is really lovely. It is the lightest, whipped, foaming texture that literally feels so gentle on the skin.
It is designed to remove makeup and SPF, but personally, I’d use this more as a second cleanse or a morning cleanse. I really do prefer to use something either oil-based, or a rich cream to do most of the work of makeup removal, especially when it comes to eye makeup.
I tried to use this to remove mascara, and it takes a while to start breaking that down. An oil cleanser does a much quicker job. It does remove light makeup nicely, so if you’re not wearing too much on your face, and you prefer a lighter texture, this could be for you.
In terms of how it leaves skin feeling, I have to say, it’s not quite as hydrating as I expected it to be. It definitely isn’t stripping, and does leaves skin feeling balanced, but it doesn’t give you that moisturised feel that creams, oils and balms do, which is to be expected.
It is fragrance free and designed to respect the skin’s natural pH levels, so it’s great if you’re worried about a compromised skin barrier. I think it’s a good one to keep in the shower, and you can use it on dry or damp skin, so it’s pretty versatile.
